PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A man, who was accused of shooting another man at a bar last year, was acquitted Tuesday morning.

Christopher Pollard was accused of shooting Shannon Hall at Bob’s Tavern in Stowe Township last September.

Pollard was facing charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault and two counts of recklessly endangering another person.

Today, the jury found him not guilty.

In court, the jury got the chance to watch surveillance video from the night of the incident.

Pollard says he was just defending himself, and his attorney agrees.

“If you look at the video, he’s backing up when these two attack him, and then they had the gun. My client never possessed a gun. And he said he was defending himself, and the jury believed it. It was self-defense from the start to the finish,” says defense attorney Blaine Jones. “My client gets up, these guys immediately attack him. They bump him from behind, they start yelling and screaming at him. My client is retreating, and they attack him. The video spoke for itself. I think we poked holes in [the prosecution’s] story. I thought that my client did very well.”

Jones added that Pollard knew of the men who were involved in the altercation, but that they were not acquaintances.

Jones says the jury’s not-guilty verdict will give Pollard his life back after spending a year in jail.

“Literally, a year of his life is gone. So, he has to pick up the pieces the best that he can and move forward with his life. It’s just a matter of reconnecting with the loved ones,” Jones says. “We’re ecstatic. His family was crying in the courtroom. It has been intense, these last five days, and I’m just thrilled that it turned out in our favor.”

Pollard’s grandfather, H. Wesley Pollard was in court for the decision.

“I feel relieved,” he says. “I [have to] hug him and kiss him, that’s for sure. I raised him.”
