Pirates Charlie Morton Out 6-8 Months After Labrum Surgery
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - The Pittsburgh Pirates have announced that starting pitcher Charlie Morton underwent surgery on Friday to repair the labrum in his right hip.
The estimated recovery time from this type of procedure is 6-8 months.
Morton previously underwent the same surgery on the labrum in his left hip on Oct. 10, 2011.
Before undergoing surgery, Morton had made 26 starts, throwing 157.1 innings while registering a record of 6-12.
Morton struck out 126 this year while walking 57.
Prior to the season, the Pirates signed Morton to a 3-year, $21 million contract with a club option for 2017.
