PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police say a man was shot in Allentown and left two children behind in his car Sunday afternoon.

According to police, the shooting happened around 1 p.m. along East Warrington Avenue, near Vincent Street.

Police say a group of young men pulled up next to the victim's car. The 22-year-old victim got out of his car and tried to run away, but was shot in the back.

He was rushed to UPMC Mercy Hospital and was last listed in stable condition.

"The victim was driving a vehicle," said Pittsburgh Police Spokeswoman Sonya Toler.  "He jumped out. In the back seat, there were two children. They were unharmed and he was shot after he fled from the car."

According to police, the man left his 9-year-old daughter and her 10-year-old cousin in the car. The children were not hurt in the incident.

Police say the shooter left the scene in a white Ford Fusion, in which there were four African-American males. All of the men had dreadlocks.

Police say the driver was wearing a red or maroon hooded-sweatshirt. A passenger in the car was also wearing a white hooded-sweatshirt with black spots.
