Prosecutor Injured In Alleged Domestic Abuse Incident

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A man has been arrested in connection with the alleged domestic abuse of an Allegheny County District Attorney's Office prosecutor Friday night.

According to the criminal complaint, the incident happened around 10 p.m. at the intersection of Garison Place and French Street.

The suspect has been identified as 48-year-old Ray Burg.

Bystanders called police after seeing Burg assaulting Pellegrini inside of a vehicle. Shortly after, police were called to Lisa Pellegrini's apartment on Penn Avenue.

When they arrived, Pellegrini told officers the two were at his bar and Burg became angry over something she had said.

According to the criminal complaint, Burg would not let Pellegrini get out of the vehicle and allegedly, "grabbed her by the back of the head and smashed her head into the dashboard multiple times."

Two men attempted to break up the assault, but were unable to do so. However, Pellegrini was able to get out of the vehicle and ran to her apartment.

A few minutes later, Burg entered the apartment and, "acted as if nothing happened."

Burg told officers he went to Pellegrini's apartment to return a court binder that she had left in his car.

Burg was placed under arrest and is facing a list of charges including, simple assault and unlawful restraint. He is currently being lodged at the Allegheny County Jail on $20,000 bond.

Pellegrini was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital to be treated for a head injury.

According to our news partners at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Pellegrini is the lead prosecutor in the case of University of Pittsburgh researcher, Dr. Robert Ferrante, who is accused of using cyanide to murder his wife.
