Couple's "Hallo-Wedding" Raises Money For Wounded Warriors

BEAVER FALLS (KDKA) -- It's pretty unusual to be charged admission to attend a wedding, but a ceremony in Beaver Falls Friday night was different than most.

Donna Matters and Jesse Mercure called it a "Hallo-Wedding."

After 10 years together, Jesse proposed less than a month ago and decided it would fun to get married at the Halloween party they were already planning.

So the bride wore a bloody wedding gown, and with Abraham Lincoln as the best man, the couple tied the knot before a crowd of Smurfs, superheroes and gangsters.

They charged admission at the front door for a very good reason.

"We wanted to get married, but we wanted to give back," said Mercure. "Instead of asking for gifts, we took a $25 donation at the door for everybody that's coming, and we're giving all the proceeds to 'It's About The Warrior Foundation.'"

Mercure is an Iraq War veteran, and the foundation helps post 911 veterans and their families in our area.

They expected to raise more than $3,000 for the group.
