Police Looking For Driver Involved With Westmoreland Co. Hit-And-Run

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police are looking for the driver of a truck that was involved in a hit-and-run accident in Westmoreland County.

The accident happened around 11:48 a.m. Thursday along Route 31 and Mendon Road in South Huntingdon Township.

Witnesses told police a driver in a black truck was driving erratically before hitting the other vehicle.

"The vehicle was driving erratically both before and after the crash occurred and that he did not make any attempts at all to stop," said Trooper Stefani Lucas, of Pennsylvania State Police.

The driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries after it landed on its roof.

The big truck headed to Interstate 70 near the Smithton Exit 70.

The truck is described as "a black Dodge QuadCab with a chrome grill, chrome door handles, chrome window rain visors above all windows, a chrome gas cap cover and a smoke stack in the bed behind the cab portion of the truck."

Police have released surveillance photos of the truck they believe was involved with the crash.

In one of the photos, a tan Jeep Grand Cherokee pulls up near the truck.

"This gentleman showed up in that area, helped him go to a dealer, fix the tire, and proceeded to go west on 70," said Trooper Lucas.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
