Paul Chryst: Conner Still A Question Mark For Miami Game

PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan)- Pitt football head coach Paul Chryst joined "The Fan Morning Show" on Wednesday for his weekly spot.

James Conner suffered a hip injury against Syracuse, but Chryst said it was too early to know his status for the Miami game.

"We're going to find out at the end of the week. He's done some stuff in practice, but we're not at the end of the week," Chryst said.

With a win against the Hurricanes, the Panthers would become bowl-eligible. Chryst said that the Panthers will have to earn it.

"The end of the season, you want to be in a bowl game, but you've got to go earn it. So, we've got one opportunity. If we get a chance to win and take care of business this week, then we've earned that opportunity. If not, we didn't earn it," Chryst said.

Chryst was asked about the growth of the team over the course of the season.

"You can't do it over and you had this opportunity, and what you did with it is what you've done with it. And so I think if guys can truly learn that, and there's times where I felt like some of this group had to go through and feel some real pain, and the only way for us to go forward, guys are going to have to share that with other guys coming in," Chryst said.

Gregg Giannotti asked about the emotions after Pitt beat Syracuse on Senior Day.

"It felt good and you're happy certainly for the team and especially for the seniors. Every time you know it's your last home game, it's a milestone and marks something, and their families are there. Some guys had people that it was the first time that they were at Heinz Field for one of their games," Chryst said.
