AMBRIDGE (KDKA) – Police have arrested a man after two people were nearly robbed, one of which was stabbed, at two Beaver County bus stops.
Melvin Kittrell says he was sitting at a bus stop in Ambridge waiting to go to work when a man sitting beside him asked him for money and then stabbed twice in the arm and cut him on the chest.READ MORE: Pittsburgh Weather: Temperatures Cool Off As The Week Progresses
“He punched me up in my head with something hard, so I punched him back,” said Kittrell. “I tried to, I ended up cutting my hand trying to hold that knife.”
Doctors say he will need surgery to fix the nerve damage in his finger. It was the second incident involving a knife-wielding suspect near Merchant Street in just 90 minutes.
On Friday, police arrested 28-year-old Rodney Michael, but his wife says there’s no way her husband could have done it.
“He was here. There’s no way. He can’t be here and there at the same time. It’s impossible. He can’t be two places at once,” said Katie Michael.READ MORE: Allegheny County Council To Meet To Continue Discussion Of Independent Police Review Board
Rodney Michael spent time in prison for shooting a 14-year-old back in 2007. His wife says just because he has a criminal record doesn’t mean he committed this crime.
“We were inside when the sirens went off,” said Katie. “It came across my brother-in-law’s scanner. He’s a volunteer firefighter. It came across his scanner what happened and we were like, ‘Wow, I guess we aren’t going outside.’ My niece ran across to my grandma’s. The siren scared her to death. My husband was here. I don’t know how he could possibly be charged for the stuff that happened Wednesday night.”
Michael is now in jail awaiting a Dec. 11 court date.
He is charged with aggravated assault, robbery, making terroristic threats, simple assault and receiving stolen property.MORE NEWS: City Of Monessen Holding 2nd City-Wide Cleanup And Recycling Drop Off
