Jason La Canfora: Steelers Re-Signing Roethlisberger 'Not Even Really A Question'

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) – CBS NFL Insider Jason La Canfora joined The Fan Morning Show on Wednesday to talk about the Steelers and the league at large as the December stretch run gets underway.

During the interview, the guys asked La Canfora about the potential for there being big changes in the near future for the Steelers, but La Canfora doesn't get the sense that the winds of change are blowing just yet.

When it comes to Ben Roethlisberger being a free agent after next season, La Canfora doesn't see Roethlisberger's ups and downs this season preventing the Steelers from successfully inking him to a new contract.

"There's no doubt they will," La Canfora said. "I mean that's not even really a question. It's been an up-and-down year for a lot of people, and obviously, he's had some incredible highs, and some low lows. But I would be absolutely, positively stunned if he wasn't back, and I would be absolutely, positively stunned if that dragged on for any real period of time. Look, he's going to get 20 million a year - there's no disputing that. Whether you want to say he's worth it or not worth it, if you want to waste your time and have that debate, you can, but he's going to get it."

La Canfora doesn't believe the Steelers' brass has reached the point of discussing off-season changes just yet.

"The sense I get right now is the season is still there in their hands," La Canfora said. "There's a lot of teams in this league right now who you look at, and change is imminent. Owners are already doing stuff sort of behind closed doors, the wheels are turning, machinations have begun. But the Steelers aren't one of those teams."
