1 Injured In Washington Co. Train Accident

WASHINGTON COUNTY (KDKA) – A man was flown to the hospital after his car slammed into a train in Washington County.

According to officials, the accident happened around 8 p.m. Wednesday along Vesta Street in Elco Borough.

Witnessess told police that 25-year-old Raymond Houseman was attempting to race the Norfolk Southern train to the Vesta Street crossing, when his car crashed into the train.

"I heard the train going by, and it was laying on it's horn, and the next thing you know you heard this horrible crash, like a building collapsed," witness William Roderick said.

Houseman was flown to a Pittsburgh-area hospital. Police say he was alert and conscious when officers arrived on scene.

Police are investigating the exact cause of the crash.

"Hopefully, the victim in this horrific accident is okay, for his family's sake," Roderick said.
