PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – It’s that time of the year when the search is on for the perfect gift for a diehard Steelers fan.
So the folks at GameHuddle.com may be on to something launching their pilot project just after Thanksgiving and featuring fifteen Pittsburgh Steelers.READ MORE: Man In Critical Condition After Shooting In Pitcairn
In short the website will let you order up a personalized video message to be sent to your crazed Steelers fan from a Steeler.
Antonio Brown, Le’Veon Bell, Ramon Foster, Cam Heyward and eleven other Steelers have agreed to help get the website going. And there’s been no shortage of demand already. “I’ve had people tell me I just solved Christmas for them,” says Justin Huff of GameHuddle.com.
Folks like Ed Zamanski in Market Square liked the video we showed him of one of the Steelers messages, “A personalized greeting from your favorite Steeler.
That’s pretty cool. And something someone could always give to someone else because there are enough Steelers fans here.”
However when fans were told about the $99 price the more common reaction was voiced by Tammy Hoffman of Reserve Twp., “Wow, that’s a lot.” But the fans believe there are plenty of Steelers fans that will pay the price and not blink.READ MORE: Three Victims Recovering, Suspect In Custody After Shooting In Mall Parking Lot
Huff says they are doing a lot of testing right now, including the price. By Monday afternoon some of the players were priced well below $99 dollars while those who starred in yesterday’s game like Brown and Bell were priced at $119. Huff says, “so even right now prices could change just so we can see what gives it the best traction.”
Once a video is ordered the player gets an alert on his smartphone and goes to his GameHuddle App.
He then uses the app to record the greeting which is displayed on his phone in a teleprompter style.
Huff wouldn’t say how much the players are paid for their efforts, but the website sells them on participating as a way to expand their social networking footprint.
If all goes well GameHuddle will ask the rest of the Steelers to come on board and expand to other NFL Teams.
Eventually it could be offered to every professional athlete in every sport.MORE NEWS: Shopping Around For Better Rates On Utilities
