Auld Lang Syne: A Look Back At 2014

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Before we ring in 2015, let's take a look back at the year that was.

Auld Lang Syne

Should auld acquaintance be forgot?
For twenty-fourteen, I think not.

World championship pogo was worth a good cheer,
Setting the tone for an up-and-down year.
Championship pinball. They played all night long.
"If you're not having fun, you're doing something wrong."

World record cookie dunk. This ain't for rookies.
"But I am all for milk and cookies."
Speaking of cookies, worthy of mention:
The Cookie Cutter Collectors Convention.

Sand sculpture? Grand sculpture. Makes you look twice.
Rich Bubin makes ice mazes. Why? "I love ice."
Mayor Peduto found Webster's to be quite contrary.
"You know where you don't find jagoff? In the dictionary."

We followed three eaglets who went all the way,
As Eagle Cam gave us the live play-by-play.
At the Aviary, new penguins come through,
While older birds strutted their stuff at the zoo.

Track star Lauryn Williams gained bobsledding fame,
As Beaver County kids chanted her name.
A Marathon fireman kept up the pace.
"This is the helmet I was wearing for the race."

A whole lot more happened, but I'm out of time.
Some stuff I left out 'cause they just didn't rhyme.
With buckets of memories, most of them nice,
It's time now to put the old year on ice.
