PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Greensburg native and ardent Steelers fan Curt Wootton has become a YouTube sensation.

With millions of viewers, his series called “Pittsburgh Dad” is Pittsburghese on cell phone. But a different cell phone captured an unguarded moment at Flix Sports Bar in North Versailles, as he watched his beloved Steelers fall to the Ravens.

A bar employee saw a customer taping and thought, “This can’t be good.” When his frustration and off-color comments appeared on YouTube, Wootton later apologized to fans on his Facebook page. And he told us in a statement: “I let my emotions over the Steelers loss get the better of me. My apologies for venting my frustrations in this manner.”

Some people we spoke with disapproved of what he said, but most of them seemed to say, “Been there, done that.”

Folks at Primanti Bros. sandwich shop in the Strip say getting fried over a Steelers loss is just a slice of life.

“We’re all for he Steelers, right?” manager Toni Haggerty responded. “So the man was upset, probably drinking a little bit more than he should have, so he probably did say a couple bad words. But some people should mind their own business.”

“We are such good, solid fans and we don’t need that kind of thing going out across the country, or on the social media,” Norman Teklinski of Primanti’s added.

Customer Bob Hartle agreed. “I think he probably should have just kept his mouth shut, although I understand he was probably just ticked off, you know. I was.”

As for off-color language and complaints about the Penguins, Steelers season ticket owner Dan Wilson said, “I sort of agree with him, but like I say, in today’s society, there’s cameras everywhere.”

Curt Wootton has learned the 21st century price of fame: the cameras never blink.
