Joe Starkey Gets Unsolicited Phone Call From Syracuse Head Coach Jim Boeheim

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - After Pitt's 83-77 victory over Syracuse on Saturday, Jim Boeheim was asked by Joe Starkey about his program's recently self-imposed sanctions stemming from potential academic violations in 2007 and things got a little heated.

Following that exchange, Joe wrote in the Trib about how classless Boeheim was.  Boeheim apparently read that story and had a change of heart as he called Joe's cell phone during Monday's edition of Starkey and Mueller.

"My, my, my how things change," Starkey said.  "You won't believe the phone call I just got.  You will not believe the phone call I just got and almost didn't make it back on air.  It was Jim Boeheim, I kid you not.  Jim Boeheim just called me and apologized for saying what he said the other day.

To add even more to the situation, Boeheim then called a second time to further clarify what they had talked about earlier!

In the end, Starkey admitted what a strange day it had all become and admitted he was glad he had gotten a chance to talk with Boeheim and straighten everything out.
