Dinner Lab Brings Unique Dinning Experiences To Pittsburgh

Dinner Lab describes itself as a "social dining experiment that unites undiscovered chefs with adventurous diners." Zach Kupperman, Co-Founder and Chief Business Officer at Dinner Lab joined Joe DeStio on the KDKA Afternoon News to dish out the details.
"Dinner Lab is a membership based social dinning club," Kupperman explained, "We post pop-up dinners in unique and unconventional locations around the city. Places like abandoned warehouses, helipads and motorcycle factories and all of the food is prepared by up and coming chefs."
The idea is to give chefs who are "stuck" as line cooks at restaurants preparing meals created by someone else a chance to cook something they are passionate about. It gives the feel of what it would be like to own your own restaurant, fulfilling a dream most chefs share.
Dinner Lab is new to the Pittsburgh area, so these dinning experiences will only be once or twice a month for the first few months. Once people are familiar with the pop-up dinner experience they will increase to five or six times a month.
The membership is $125 a year, but as Joe DeStio pointed out it pays for an event that will only happen once.
"This will be for one night only, it's this chef on this night, this cuisine at this venue and it will never happen again," Kupperman said.
Once you have joined as a member you get an email, that email will tell you about an upcoming usually three weeks in advance. The email will include the theme of the event, the back story of the chef, and the menu they are passionate about.
