DEP Taking Public Comments On Kuhn's Landfill Site In Beaver Co.

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection hosted a public hearing Tuesday evening for people in Darlington Township, Beaver County.

It presented its final plan to address issues at the Kuhn's Landfill.

It was used for the disposal of municipal and industrial waste between 1964 and 1980, when the DEP ordered it closed.

Recent sampling of the site revealed hazardous substances that must be removed, and part of the landfill must be capped.

The DEP will be taking public comment on the cleanup plan until May 21.

The DEP hopes to start work by the end of the summer.
