Washington Co. HS Students Accused Of Organizing "Anti-Gay" Day
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – School officials are investigating after several students at McGuffey High School allegedly organized an "anti-gay" day.
Reportedly the students at the Washington County school organized the "anti-gay" day after several students participated in a day of silence, where those who want to show support for LGBT rights don't speak for a day.
One person who contacted KDKA and wanted to remain anonymous says the "anti-gay" students agreed to all wear red and orange flannel shirts. They also allegedly harassed LGBT-supporting students and hung up "anti-gay" posters.
Officials with the McGuffey School District issued a statement saying they are looking into the incident:
"Yesterday afternoon, April 16, 2015, allegations of harassment were brought to the attention of our administration. McGuffey School District, along with school police officers, continue to investigate all allegations. We will follow our Student Code of Conduct, and file legal citations, as warranted. We resolve to ensure that all children can grow and learn in a safe, supportive environment free from discrimination."
