Woman Accused Of Pushing Kids Down Stairs, Punching Police Officer

HOMEWOOD (KDKA)- A Homewood woman was arrested on Sunday, accused of pushing several juveniles down a flight of stairs and then assaulting a police officer.

It all started inside a home in the 7000-block of Monticello Street in Homewood.

According to the criminal complaint, 57-year-old Victoria Smith pushed a juvenile down the stairs, knocking the girl unconscious and injuring her arm. The victim was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital for treatment.

Police say Smith also grabbed a 15-year-old by the hair and repeatedly punched her in the head. That victim was treated by medics at the Zone 5 police station.

According to the complaint, Smith also hit and pushed an 11-year-old child down the stairs. That child wasn't seriously hurt.

When police arrived at Smith's home, 26-year-old Chaz Williams tried to stop them from entering the home. Smith eventually came out to the front porch, where police officers tried to arrest her.

Police say Smith punched an officer in the ear, ripped his radio microphone off and ripped his shirt collar. At one point, Smith pushed the officer back into a second officer, knocking them both off-balance. Police say Williams also ended up fighting with police.  Williams is accused of punching two of the officers on the scene.

Officers used pepper spray to help detain both Williams and Smith. Williams was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital for facial injuries from the pepper spray, and then was taken to the Allegheny County Jail.

Smith is in the Allegheny County Jail charged with aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of children and resisting arrest.

Williams is charged with obstructing administration of law, resisting arrest and aggravated assault.
