Get Marty: Dick's Donates To Youth Football Team That Had Equipment Stolen

MONACA (KDKA) -- Dick's Sporting Goods stepped up big time for a Get Marty report.

"We could not have had a football season without the help," says Monaca Little Indians' football coach Randy Suman.

Hoodlums broke into the storage area of the football team in May. The thieves took more than $2,000 worth of football equipment. Shirts, helmets, and even Gatorade was taken.

"Only a horrible person would do something like that," says Coach Suman.

"Please, Marty, help us."

That was the desperate e-mail sent to KDKA'S Marty Griffin and Get Marty from a Monaca Football mom.

We reached out to Dick's Sporting Goods and got an immediate response.

"We want to be able to create that positive out of something negative. To give sports equipment back to this team. To put them back on to the road they want to be on. It's what we believe in," says Coleen Wilson, Dick's Community and Corporate Relations manager.

So, before it was all said and done, Dick's donated nearly $4,000 worth of football gear and gift cards to the Monaca Little Indians.
