Yough H.S. Coach Enters ARD Program After Soliciting Nude Photos From Teen Boy As A Prank

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Casey Gilkey said nothing as he left court in Rostraver Township Monday morning.

He waived his right to a preliminary hearing. The 45-year-old, who was a junior varsity baseball coach at Yough High School, faced charges of sexual abuse of children and corruption of minors, after he admitted to posing as a waitress and sexting with of his players.

Gilkey's attorney says it was a prank.

"What was reported initially was this was a prank, and it was confirmed through everyone that it was a prank and only a prank," said Gilkey's attorney, Mark Bolkovac.

According to the criminal complaint, on April 1, 2015, the baseball team was dining at Dino's in Latrobe.

Gilkey had a waitress give the 14-year-old player a phone number. That phone number was Gilkey's. The 14-year-old told police he started sexting with who he thought was the waitress, named "Alexis."

"Alexis" who was actually Gilkey, asked the teenager to send a picture of his penis, and the teen complied. Rather than go to trial, Gilkey will go into an accelerated rehabilitative disposition, or ARD program.

Added Bolkovac, "They've offered ARD so that he could substantiate the fact that he won't be involved in a situation like that again. There won't be contact with the alleged victim in this matter, and once he serves that time on ARD, it's over."

Gilkey's attorney says his client is looking forward to getting back to coaching, which he could do if he successfully completes ARD.

"He's been doing it for a long time," said Bolkovac, "he loves doing it."

Gilkey's next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 23. His attorney said his record could be expunged.
