2 Wounded After Large Fight Breaks Out At Indiana Apartment Complex

INDIANA, Pa. (KDKA) – At least two people were injured after a large fight broke out at an Indiana County apartment complex.

Police say they were called to a shooting outside of the Copper Beach apartments on Medlar Drive in White Township shortly after midnight. It's located near the IUP campus.

Police say "a fight broke out within a large number of people." There they found two men from Philadelphia wounded.

Christopher William Waters, 21, was shot under his right arm and taken to a Pittsburgh hospital. Nathan Wright, 22, suffered a large cut above his right eye, but it's unclear how.

A student took pictures of the crowd. A neighbor called to warn state police.

"We kind of explained to them there's 100 and something people standing outside of this one house," said IUP graduate Nathan Bennett. "These apartments are only supposed to have 10 people at one time. We kind of saw it coming and knew it was a recipe for disaster."

And it wasn't long before a fight broke out.

"Throughout the fight a gunshot rang out and the individual was struck with a bullet from the weapon that was fired," said State Police Tpr. Mark McMahan.

Police say they have little information to work with so far because, "even though these incidents occurred within a large group of people, absolutely no information was provided on the identity of the actors."

No word on what prompted the fight.
