Suspect Dead After Standoff In Greensburg

GREENSBURG (KDKA) – Authorities were called to an apartment complex in Greensburg, where a man was barricaded Thursday morning.

It happened at the Foxglove Apartments.

Neighbors reportedly called police around 8:30 a.m. after hearing a loud argument between the suspect, 52-year-old David Marcisco. Police said he had a history of violent behavior.

While in a standoff with police, Marcisco shot and killed himself, police say.

They also say the woman in the apartment with Marcisco was his girlfriend. He allegedly beat her and held a gun to her head for several hours. However, when police arrived at the apartment and knocked on the door, she ran out and Marcisco barricaded himself inside.

"She stated upon police arrive that David Marcisco had pointed a gun to her head and threatened to kill her," said Greensburg Police Chief Walter Lyons.

Soon after, the state police Community Emergency Response Team set up, using the Rook tactical vehicle to approach the upstairs apartment. All the time, negotiators were trying to talk to Marcisco.

"We made a number of attempts over a two-hour period of time to try to get him to answer his phone," said Lyons.

Then around 1 p.m., state police tactical operators got a look at Marcisco.

"A camera was placed under the door in the apartment bedroom and David was seen lying on the floor with a gunshot wound," said Lyons.

Prior to Marcisco's death, he was facing multiple charges including simple assault, reckless endangerment and terroristic threats.

Neighbors say arguments between the two are not uncommon and that they had been arguing loudly all night. It's believed alcohol may have played a factor.
