PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Police continue to investigate a violent incident on the city’s North Side that led to a shot being fired and a suspect hiding out in a building.

It all started around 3 p.m. on Middle Street, which runs parallel to East Ohio Street.

According to officials, a man was sitting in his car when the suspect jumped in and pulled out a gun.

Authorities say the driver than pulled out his own weapon and fired off a shot.

Police say they believe it was all prompted by an alleged drug deal.

The suspect was not hit by the gunfire and then jumped out of the car and ran down an alleyway and hid inside of a building.

Police surrounded the building, but shortly after, the suspect surrendered.

He was taken into custody.

The investigation continues.
