Ben Roethlisberger: 'Absolutely' Will Be Ready For Seattle

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan)- Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger joined The Cook and Poni Show on Sportsradio 93.7 The Fan for the #1 Cochran Ben Roethlisberger Show which airs every Tuesday morning at 11 am during the Steelers season.

Coming off the teams 30-9 thumping of the Cleveland Browns in which he started the game on the bench serving as Landry Jones backup until Jones suffered an ankle injury, Roethlisberger told us what happened during the week that got him in position to play after receiving an initial diagnosis that he could be out 1-2 weeks.

"I talked to coach on Saturday and he basically said, 'if we can rest you, we're going to rest you...If you feel comfortable, I feel comfortable with you being the number two in case of emergency.' Obviously seven plays into the game, there was an emergency."

After completing 22 of 33 pass attempts for 379 yards with 3 touchdowns and 1 interception, Roethlisberger updated us on how the injured foot feels now.

"It's definitely a sore Monday and Tuesday, the adrenaline wears off," Roethlisberger said. "No setbacks, just typical game soreness."

When asked if he'd be pretty to take on the Seattle Seahawks in two weeks following the teams bye, Roethlisberger said "absolutely."

A big part of the success Ben had last week and has had all season is due in part to the play of his top wide receiver Antonio Brown and he talked about how the two are clicking to the tune of 27 catches for 423 yards and two touchdowns over just the last two weeks, but added that there's still room for improvement between them.

"He is special," Roethlisberger said about his top target. "It's not always the prettiest thing and that's something that I harp on him about a lot. No improvising until I improvise. Be on your details, be on your P's and Q's and I need to know exactly where you're going to be every single time. And like I said, I stay on him about it because he's not always perfect, but the thing is that even when he's not perfect or I'm not perfect we still seem to make things happen and it's a credit to our chemistry. We work together a lot. We talk a lot and when he's on his P's and Q's and he's in the spot he's supposed to be, there's so much trust."

All of that being said, Roethlisberger was critical of one aspect of Brown's performance this past week, his front flip into the endzone.

"You know, he gets caught up in the moment. I said listen, 'if you get hurt, was it worth it? Whether it's career ending or season ending, was it worth it?' And he is so apologetic about it. He's like, 'No, I'm so sorry.' I told him, "AB, that was probably one of the most athletic things I've ever seen anybody do...that was so impressive, don't ever do it again."
