Two Players Reportedly Leaving Pitt Panthers Football Team

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- It appears as though the University of Pittsburgh football team is losing two members of the team.

Safety Pat Amara Jr. announced this morning on Twitter that he has asked Pitt for a release from his scholarship and it was granted.

In his Twitter post Amara said, "Talking to my family and mentors this is the best situation for me to strive for my hopes and dreams. This will not be easy for me ending something I started with intentions of being a Pitt man."

Amara went on to say, "I will always love and support Pitt even when I'm in another uniform. As always and forever Hail to Pitt."

Sources say that Amara's departure was due to future playing time.

Amara started the season opener, but was replaced in the lineup by eventual ACC rookie of the year Jordan Whitehead.

Yesterday a report surfaced saying that red shirt fresh freshman linebacker Jamal Davis also intends to transfer.

This morning head coach Pat Narduzzi confirmed that report, and like Amara, Davis is leaving due to playing time.

Davis was a red shirt freshman out of Canton, Ohio.
