2 Injured In Reserve Twp. Shooting & Crash

RESERVE TOWNSHIP (KDKA)- Police are looking into a shooting and crash that left two people injured Wednesday morning.

According to police, the incident happened around 2 a.m. along Spring Garden Avenue in Reserve Township, near the line with the Northview Heights neighborhood.

Police said it started with a silver Chevy Malibu chasing a black BMW SUV up Spring Garden Avenue in Northview Heights. A witness in the SUV said shots were being fired from the silver car.

"There was some sort of dispute that started in or outside of Cheerleader's in the Strip District. One vehicle followed the other and shots were fired," Pittsburgh Public Safety Spokeswoman Sonya Toler said.

Police found multiple shell casings in the 2800 block of Spring Garden Avenue.

The 28-year-old male driver was rushed to Allegheny General Hospital with a graze wound to the left side of his head. There is no word on his condition.

The second person inside the SUV was treated and released when the vehicle and the silver Malibu crashed in the 3200 block of Spring Garden Avenue. The SUV ended up slamming into a retaining wall as well.

"I heard a big bang, saw a car crashed over there so I called 911. My boyfriend ran out to make sure everyone was okay," Samantha Kaib said.

The driver of the silver car ran away from the scene into a wooded area. Police used K-9 units and officers to search the woods for the driver and possibly more suspects. However, no arrests have been made.

"We did track what we believe were the actors but could not locate them in Northview Heights," Toler said.

Police say the Malibu was a rented car and they're currently following that lead as well as looking for any surveillance video.

"We were not able to locate those individuals but we believe with all the evidence we have collected that it's only a matter of time before we identify and apprehend them," Toler said.
