Police Seek Help Identifying 2 Suspects In Jewelry Store Heist

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pittsburgh Police are asking the public for help in identifying two men accused of robbing a jewelry store in Downtown Pittsburgh.

According to investigators, the heist happened on Tuesday at Garcia Jewelers on Liberty Avenue. It's on the third floor of the Clark Building.

People who have been in the building for a decade said they're surprised this even happened because security is so tight.

Michael Tarquinio with Sal's City Deli has operated his business in the Clark Building for 10 years and knows the owners of Garcia Jewelers very well.

"All of the commercial tenants, we're like family. We know each other and have been friends with each other for many, many years," Tarquinio said.

So, finding out that the longtime family business had its merchandise stolen by these guys is alarming.

"It's a shame because in the whole time I've been associated with the building, we've never had an incident like this. It's just one of the things that doesn't happen here," Tarquinio said.

Police have released some pretty clear surveillance video of the two suspects in hopes of tracking them down.

One man was wearing a long-sleeved, blue polo shirt with jeans. The other had on a brown jacket with writing on the back and a bright red or orange hat.

Pittsburgh Police said the suspects took off with an undisclosed amount of jewelry. Authorities haven't said how the men got away with the jewels.

Anyone with information on the identity of either man is asked to call Pittsburgh Police Zone 2 detectives at (412)-255-2827.
