Leechburg School Board Member Threatened With Blackmail

LEECHBURG (KDKA) - As the Leechburg School District grapples with a hazing investigation into the boy's basketball team, a school board member has received a threatening message.

A release from Leechburg Police states that a member of the school board received a letter marked Feb. 11 and that it's contents could "best be described as blackmail."

The message stated that if Coach Davies was removed from any position at the school, the "blackmail information" would be used. Officials have not said what the blackmail information entails.

Police said that the United States Postal Inspectors are being consulted and have been asked to join the investigation.

Leechburg Chief of Police, Michael W. Diebold, cautioned anyone from working to interfere with the investigation via an official statement:

"This is a serious investigation and anyone that attempts to impede the investigation, witnesses or victims will be prosecuted. In the state of Pennsylvania it is unlawful to exercise improper influence in official matters, retaliate against an official for taking official action, intimidate a witness or victim, retaliate against a witness or victim and to obstruct the administration of law."
