Antonio Brown's Charity Softball Game To Benefit Children's Hospital Foundation

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown greeted young fans during a visit at Children's Hospital on Wednesday to drum up support for a celebrity softball game.

He has convinced fellow football players to trade the gridiron for the baseball diamond for one special day.

"Thank you all for coming today to support my celebrity softball game," he announced to the crowd. "June 11 at Washington, Pennsylvania."

The Washington Wild Things will host the game at CONSOL Energy Field to benefit the Children's Hospital Foundation.

"I have four kids myself," he said. "Anything I could do to make a positive impact on kids, I'm all for it, especially in the city of Pittsburgh."

One by one, two by two, kids lined up for photos with a football idol they never thought they'd meet in person.

"To know I could put a smile on their face and know what they're going through, that's always important," Brown added.

Max Cieply, 6, of the North Hills, is the batboy.

"I'm going to hand the bat to Antonio Brown," he said proudly.

Batgirl Maddie Garner, 11, of West Virginia, received a phone call from her football idol.

"It was just like a dream come true, that I got to talk with him," she recalled. "I just wanted to scream as I talked with him. He was like my first guy I was a big fan of in the NFL!"

The game is scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 11 at CONSOL Energy Park.
