Crews Working To Remove Downed Tree In Penn Hills

PENN HILLS (KDKA) - The latest round of storms moved through the area overnight, but the effects are still being felt Thursday morning.

In Penn Hills, crews are working to remove a downed tree that is blocking Nadine Road. The tree fell around 3:30 a.m.

As of 7 a.m., the road was closed between Allegheny River Boulevard and Lincoln Road. It is expected to remain closed until at least 10 a.m.

When the tree toppled, it brought down power lines with it. As a result, it knocked out power to 10 transformers in the area. Fortunately, Duquesne Light crews were able to implement a temporary fix that has restored power.

A Flash Flood Watch that went into effect Wednesday evening at 11 p.m. was cancelled around 4:15 a.m. Thursday for east central Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia, because the heaviest rain moved south of the area.
