PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Folks love the outdoor feel Istanbul Sofra has to offer in Regent Square. They enjoy a taste of Turkish culture with every bite.
“I don’t think there’s another restaurant like this in Pittsburgh, which I love,” Zoe Soteres, of Squirrel Hill, said.
Soteres came to the restaurant to celebrate her 14th birthday. She says the warm hospitality is one reason why she keeps coming back.
“The owner is always out talking to people. The wait staff is really outstanding,” Kip Soteres, of Squirrel Hill, said.
Istanbul Sofra is one of dozens of restaurants taking part in this year’s Pittsburgh Restaurant Week. Restaurants from all over the area are offering deals and discounts.
“I like to support any events going on in the Pittsburgh area, and we love to be part of it, and to see what Pittsburgh can do for an outsider and also in Pittsburgh,” Adnan Pehlivan, owner of Istanbul Sofra, said.
People say there are so many options to choose from, especially now that Pittsburgh has become a top food town and continues to grow.
“We think Pittsburgh has changed immensely over the years we’ve been here. So many new restaurants, and I think we’re lucky to live in the city,” Marcia Gruver, of Regent Square, said.
Brian Pekarcik owns several restaurants, including Spoon in East Liberty, which is taking part in the event.
He’s watched the dining scene explode over the last few years.
“I think a lot of young professionals are moving into the city, so I think people who have experienced bigger markets when they are moving to Pittsburgh for the first time or back to Pittsburgh, they want what they’ve been accustomed to in those bigger markets,” Pekarcik said.
“I guess it’s going to be one of the best in the northeast for food,” Aziz Althrani, of Saudi Arabia, said.
Pittsburgh Restaurant Week started Monday and runs through Sunday.
