Worker Shot & Killed Outside House In Wilmerding
WILMERDING (KDKA) -- A contractor working on a house in Wilmerding was shot and killed on Friday.
It happened around 11:30 a.m. on Airbrake Avenue.
Police say the 27-year-old victim, identified by investigators as Rico Smith, was performing some kind of work outside of a home and was shot multiple times.
Smith was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead.
"The victim was working on a front porch of a residence here, he and another contractor making repairs, when the actor walked onto the porch and started shooting," said Allegheny County Police Lt. Andrew Schurman.
Witnesses say a black man, standing around 6-feet tall, was spotted fleeing the scene.
Police say the motive for the shooting is not clear, but it is believed that the victim was the intended target.
An autopsy has been set for Saturday.
Several other people were also working on the house, but they weren't hurt
