Police: Let Us Test Your Meth For Zika Virus

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Police in Michigan are urging people to bring meth into the police station, out of "concern for public safety."

The Bath Township Police Department posted on social media this week, saying they have heard reports of meth "possibly containing the Zika virus."

"We DO NOT want this to happen to you," the post reads. "If you recently bought some meth, you can bring it into the Bath Township Police Department and we can test it for you."

They finish the warning by saying: "Your safety is our #1 priority! Please SHARE so everyone knows."

In response to people accusing the police department of "poking fun" at a national epidemic, officers said they were using "special measures to address the issue."

"This post has reached over 133,000 people and we're sure this has sparked conversation in at least one home affected by substance abuse. That being said, if even one person reaches out after reading this we all win," one comment read.
