Man Injured In Banksville ATM Robbery, Stabbing

BANKSVILLE (KDKA) – Police are investigating after a man was robbed and stabbed at an ATM in Banksville Wednesday night.

According to police, the incident happened at the Banksville Plaza in the 3100 block of Banksville Road just before midnight.

After withdrawing money, a 25-year-old man was walking back to his car when he was approached by the suspect.

The suspect demanded money and stabbed the victim in the shoulder when he refused to comply. The victim attempted to punch the suspect and was stabbed a second time in the right arm.

At that time, the suspect fled and the victim drove himself to UPMC Mercy Hospital for treatment. He was last listed in stable condition and the injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

People who frequent the area have been put on edge by the news.

"I'm stunned. Right now we feel its very safe in Pittsburgh. Our neighborhood especially. I come to Kuhn's here once a week or more. Its disconcerting," said Joe Klimowicz.

"I think its pretty scary. People cash their paychecks here all day. People use this bank all day. Can't even cash a paycheck. Can't get money out of the bank. It's a little intimidating whenever you go to walk up to it," said Craig Alexo.

The suspect was described as being an African-American male wearing a black ski mask and black clothing.
