Police Charge Father Of Boy Allegedly Smothered By His Mother

McKEESPORT (KDKA) -- Allegheny County Police say they have arrested and filed charges against the father of a young boy who was allegedly smothered by his mother while she texted over the course of hours with the man.

According to police, 23-year-old Andre Price, Jr. of McKeesport is facing two felony counts of endangering the welfare of children.

Just a day ago, police charged the mother of Price's children, 21-year-old Christian Clark with homicide and attempted homicide.

Investigators say she smothered the couple's 17-month-old son, Andre Price III, in her Hi View Gardens apartment in McKeesport Tuesday night.

Clark also allegedly attempted to smother their 2-year-old daughter, but the child survived.

According to the criminal complaint, Clark was having a fight with the child's father via text message, accusing him of cheating, during the entire incident.

During the conversation, Clark allegedly sent a video of the boy's lifeless body and admitted to smothering him on an air mattress.

Police say it all happened over the course of two-and-a-half hours. According to investigators, "Price Jr. made no efforts to intervene or send first responders" to the apartment to help his children.

Police also say their investigation has determined that Clark allegedly harmed or threatened both children on at least one occasion before the boy's death on Tuesday.

Price Jr. is being held in the Allegheny County Jail while he awaits arraignment.
