Ski Season Begins Black Friday At Seven Springs Resort

CHAMPION, Pa. (KDKA/AP) - Southwestern Pennsylvania's two major ski resorts are making snow and planning to open for the season on Friday.

Seven Springs Mountain Resort and Hidden Valley Resort both plan to open Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and remain open for the weekend.

Seven Springs says on its website that "a blast of cold temperatures allowed our time to aggressively make snow."

But you don't have to be a skier to enjoy Seven Springs this winter.

"If you're not a skier, first of all, you can go snow tubing, which will give you that same downhill sensation. No skills required. You get on your tube and you slide down the hill. We have a magic carpet that will whisk you right back up to the top of the hill," said Katie Buchan, the resort's communications manager. "You can also do horse-drawn sleigh rides, snowmobiling tours, snowshoeing tours."

There's also plenty of things to do indoors when you need to get warm.

They've opened a brand new bowling alley, there's a pool, indoor mini golf, an arcade, plenty of shopping and food, too.

Seven Springs is also debuting a new restaurant next to the bowling alley, Seven-Ten Bistro.
