New Google Tool May Save You Time On Black Friday

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- You've seen the crowds! You've heard the stories of brawls breaking out in stores.

In years past, Black Friday has come with a lot of chaos and confusion. But this year, there may be a better way to skip all that and still get the best deals.

Just this week, Google launched a new tool. It will actually help you figure out just how busy a particular retailer is.

"The idea is we can see just how busy a store is, if its really crowded, we surface that real time information and you can decide if that's a good time for you to go or not," said Daniel Sieberg with Google.

You can access the information right through Google Maps or Google search on your smartphone, all you have to do is type in the name of the store.

In addition to getting the real time numbers, you'll also see historical data, so you can get a sense of when the retailer may be less crowded.

Google representatives say their mission is to save people time during what can be an anxiety-filled time of year.

"Hopefully it saves you a little stress, a little time, maybe a headache just knowing when the crowds are going to be at their peak, everybody's got different schedules and demands of their time, so the idea is just to arm people with a little bit more information about making some of those decisions," Sieberg said.

The new tool was just rolled out nationally on Tuesday. Be aware, not all stores are included.
