PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) – It has been the story line that has been hanging over the Penguins since the very first game of the season and doesn’t appear to be going away any time soon, who is this team’s number one goalie?
Defenseman Kris Letang joined The Starkey and Mueller Show weighed in on the situation and talked about how the team is reacting to the constant controversy.
“It’s tough,” Letang had to say about watching his close friend Marc-Andre Fleury deal with the situation. “He’s been our number one for so many years.”
“I just try to do my best in front of him, try to make sure that he’s having a lot of success,” Letang went on to say.
Letang also talked about Matt Murray and said the team is fortunate to have both guys in net.
“I think we have two number ones. That’s the luxury of like Sid’s line and Geno’s line, the luxury to have two number on centers.”
Talking about the teams offensive luxuries, Letang looked back on the recent 8-5 victory over the Ottawa Senators and why it may not have been head coach Mike Sullivan’s favorite game of the year.
“I don’t think he loved the high scoring affair there, but at the end of the day he likes the way that we’re finding ways to win, and that’s what we did.”
