MCKEESPORT, Pa. (KDKA) – Firefighters used a ladder truck and ropes to rescue two women in Mckeesport on Tuesday.

Their car collided with a pickup truck at the intersection of Route 48 and Walnut Street and then went about 40 feet over a hillside and into a creek.

The women were put into baskets and then lifted into the parking lot.

“We do train for vehicle accidents and extrication and rope rescue, but this definitely taxed us” said McKeesport Fire Chief Jeffrey Tomovcsik.

Both women were taken to Forbes hospital. The driver of the truck as also hurt and taken to the hospital.
