Police: Man And Woman Shot Dead By Passenger In Their Car

WILKINSBURG (KDKA) -- Allegheny County Police say a man and a woman were shot and killed by a backseat passenger in their car.

Officers were called to the scene on Midland Street, near Franklin Avenue, in Wilkinsburg around 9 p.m. Sunday.

Yellow police tape surrounded the scene, and multiple evidence markers filled the street.

"When they arrived, they found a female laying on the street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The female was ultimately pronounced dead," said Allegheny County Police Inspector Andrew Schurman.

The female victim had multiple gunshot wounds. Officers then spotted a car with its door open further up the street. They found a man inside with multiple gunshot wounds.

"When they approached that car, they saw a male in the passenger seat who was also shot multiple times and he was also pronounced deceased," said Schurman.

The medical examiner identified the woman as 18-year-old Elarrah Findley and the man as 22-year-old Jerrell Jeffries.

Investigators believe Findley and Jeffries were riding in the front seat of the car when a passenger in the backseat shot Jeffries. Police say Findley got out and ran down the street, but was pursued by the shooter who was firing at her.

No suspects have been identified, and police say the motive for the shooting is not known.

"There was stamp bags of suspected heroin or fentanyl in the vehicle leading us to believe this might have been some sort of drug transaction and potential robbery thereof," said Schurman.

"It was packaged in such a way that we suspect it was being sold in quantity as opposed to single stamp bags."

Anyone who heard or saw anything is asked to call the Allegheny County Police Tip Line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS (1-833-255-8477); callers can remain anonymous.
