Critical Blood Supply Shortage Declared, Donors Needed

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Vitalant has declared a critical shortage of blood, saying blood providers nationwide have less than a two-days' supply of necessary blood types.

They say they strive for a four-day supply.

The shortage comes after a busy holiday season where they saw 21,000 fewer donations than expected.
