Pittsburgh Steelers Hire Ike Hilliard As Wide Receivers Coach
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The Steelers have made a decision on a new wide receivers coach.
The team announced Tuesday morning the hiring of Ike Hilliard for the position.
"We have hired Ike Hilliard as wide receivers coach."
Hilliard has spent the last six years as receivers coach for the Washington Redskins and nine years overall as a position coach in the NFL.
Before coaching, Hilliard was a first-round pick wideout to the New York Giants in 1997. He spent eight seasons with the G-Men from 1997-2004 and four additional seasons with the Tampa Buccaneers before calling it a career.
"New wide receivers coach Ike Hilliard comes to Pittsburgh with plenty of NFL coaching experience."
Hilliard replaces interim receivers coach Ray Sherman, who took over the position in August of 2019 after the sudden passing of then-coach Darryl Drake during training camp.
