PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Two Pittsburgh City Council members introduced legislation to declare a “state of educational emergency” within the city.

Ricky Burgess and Daniel Lavelle say they want to assess, address and evaluate the state of education within Pittsburgh’s schools.

They say the coronavirus pandemic and institutional racism have fueled an education gap within the city’s schools and among African American students.
