Part-Time Police Officer, Firefighter In West Virginia Charged With Sex Assault

MADISON, W.Va. (AP) — West Virginia police have charged a part-time police officer and probationary firefighter with two counts of sex assault, news outlets reported.

Christopher Lee Osborne, 25, of Uneeda in Boone County was arrested Wednesday and lodged in the Southwestern Regional Jail, news outlets reported, citing officials. Osborne is a probationary member of the Charleston Fire Department and part-time Marmet police officer who also belonged to the Danville Volunteer Fire Department.

According to a criminal complaint filed on Jan. 25, West Virginia State Police received a complaint about a sexual assault involving a juvenile that happened at the Danville Fire Department. A second criminal complaint accuses Osborne of a sex assault in 2018 at a residence in Madison.

Osborne has been dismissed by both fire departments, officials said.

Marmet Police Chief John J. Perrine said Osborne was suspended without pay pending the outcome of the case against him.

It wasn't immediately clear whether Osborne has an attorney.
