U.S. Steel Terminates Plan For Shale Gas Well At Edgar Thomson Steel Mill

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- U.S. Steel will not drill for natural gas at the Edgar Thomson Works steel mill in Braddock.
The company has terminated an agreement planning for a shale gas well pad at the steel mill.
It's been four years since U.S. Steel first proposed a gas well on the site, but many neighbors in the Mon Valley voiced concerns about local health and safety.
More than 20,000 people live within two miles of the site.
