Seneca Valley School Board Votes To Remove Mascot, Native American Imagery

By: KDKA-TV News Staff

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The Seneca Valley School District will get rid of its mascot as well as other Native American imagery.

The school board voted Monday to remove the images throughout the district.

However, the district will keep the "Raiders" nickname and come up with a new mascot and images.

Earlier this year, a group of students and staff asked the district to remove the mascot, saying it's disrespectful to Native Americans.
