Elle Macpherson is a woman of many talents. She is a model, actress, designer, mother, and she continues to inspire stylish fans across the world. Her style is admired for its ability to transition from these various roles and responsibilities. But you don't need a movie star budget or a team of stylists to gather lessons from her multi-tasking style. When taking inspiration from a celebrity look, be sure to maintain your own unique aesthetic. With an open mind and a little creativity, you can create an outfit that stays true to you, your shape, and your budget.

First, consider your own body and your silhouette comfort zone. Elle is wearing pieces that layer strategically to add warmth without bulk. A shirt, a jacket, and an opened fur or puffer vest each provide protection from the elements while allowing you to still look like you.

The great thing about this simple outfit is how many of the elements can come from an existing wardrobe. Jeans, a top, a waist-length jacket, and a vest pair with knee high boots. You can run from errand to errand without missing a stylish beat. If you are less comfortable with such form fitting pieces all over, focus on structure for the top or bottom half of your body. Leggings can be swapped in for the jeans and layered under a tunic, boyfriend cardigan, and similar vest.

Customize the look to suit your own lifestyle and the pieces that exist in your current closet. Or if you are itching to shop, you can see what is available in current retail stores. On a recent mall trip, I spotted similar pieces at Burlington Coat Factory, Avalon Exchange, and the Pittsburgh-based college student favorite, American Eagle Outfitters.

A celebrity-inspired winter weather look can easily be transitioned for real-life wear when you mine your own existing closet.
