Pitt vs. ND Storyline

GAME STORYLINES

Pitt seeks an unprecedented third consecutive victory at Notre Dame Stadium when it visits the Irish this week for a national NBC television date. The Panthers defeated Notre Dame in each of their prior two visits, including a 36-33 decision in quadruple overtime in 2008, the longest game in each school's history.

Overall, the Panthers have won three of the last four against the Irish. Pitt defeated Notre Dame, 27-22, in Pittsburgh last year.

Pitt is very familiar with first-year Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly, who spent the prior three seasons at Big East foe Cincinnati. The Panthers were 1-2 against Kelly, including last year's 45-44 thriller won by the Bearcats that decided the 2009 Big East title.

The Panthers are 22-9 over their last 31 games, the program's winningest stretch since the 2001-03 seasons.
