Pittsburgh Pirate Evan Meek Wins Chuck Tanner Media Award

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Reliever Evan Meek, a former Rule 5 draft pick who was the Pirates' lone representative on the NL All-Star team this season, has been chosen as the winner of the Chuck Tanner Award for media availability and cooperation.

The award, named for the former Pirates manager and major league outfielder, is presented each season by the Pittsburgh chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America.

Other players who received multiple votes were Neil Walker, Garrett Jones, Zach Duke, Joel Hanrahan, Brendan Donnelly, Ross Ohlendorf and Charlie Morton.

Past winners include Jack Wilson, Adam LaRoche and Jason Bay.
