PITTSBURGH (AP) — Ashton Gibbs scored 25 points and No. 5 Pittsburgh began the game with a 23-point run while beating Northwood 104-62 in exhibition play Sunday.

Brad Wanamaker scored 18 points and freshman J.J. Moore had 17 for the Panthers, who didn’t allow Northwood to score for the first 8:27. Pitt led 46-28 at the half.

Jonathan Dunn scored 24 points for Northwood, which committed 17 turnovers to Pitt’s nine.

Pitt forwards Gilbert Brown (hamstring), Nasir Robinson (knee) and Lamar Patterson (ankle) didn’t play. Robinson could be out until early December after undergoing surgery last week to repair torn cartilage in his right knee.

Talib Zanna, who started for Robinson, had 13 points and nine rebounds.
